Police: Former Student Arrested In UCLA Laptop Thefts

WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday announced the arrest of a former student for allegedly stealing more than 55 laptops on the UCLA campus.

Seyed Ali Pakizehkar Hesari has been booked on suspicion of burglary, university officials said.

Hesari is accused of breaking into the Charles E. Young Research Library early Saturday and stealing 55 Apple computers valued at $33,000.

The crime was caught on surveillance, which showed the suspect wearing UCLA sweatpants.

Hesari has also been connected to the thefts of two more laptops stolen from the Ackerman Student Union in September, officials said.

The stolen computers have been recovered.

According to police, he is not currently enrolled at UCLA, but had been enrolled as recently as March, studying history.

Authorities plan to release more information about the arrest at 2:30 p.m.
