Pursuit Suspect Surrenders Following Standoff At Chino Home

CHINO (CBSLA.com) — A pursuit suspect surrendered to police Wednesday after he barricaded himself inside a San Bernardino County home.

The pursuit began around 1:15 a.m. in Ontario when the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Robert Perea, failed to pull over for a traffic stop.

Perea then led officers on a high speed chase through Ontario, ending to a Chino neighborhood where he ditched the car after crashing into another vehicle on Fifth and D streets, police said.

"The driver then fled on foot into his residence in the 13100 block of Fifth Street. Family members quickly exited the residences while the driver barricaded himself inside," Officer Jorge Ramirez said.

Officers tried to coax Perea out of the house using a bullhorn, however, no activity came from the home.

Perea finally surrendered to police around 5 a.m. and was arrested.

He was wanted for outstanding warrants, felony evading and a vehicle theft.
