Police: El Monte Martial Arts Instructor Arrested For Inappropriate Contact With Students

EL MONTE (CBSLA.com) — An El Monte martial arts instructor has been arrested for having inappropriate physical contact with three juvenile students, police say.

Temple City resident Derick Lee, 49, was taken into custody around 4:50 p.m. April 30 at Elite Kung Fu, located in the 10400 block of Valley Boulevard.

El Monte police say the investigation was opened when they received information that an instructor at the facility had inappropriate contact with one juvenile. A follow-up investigation resulted in the identification of two additional victims, police say.

According to investigators, all of the assaults were committed against current and former students of Elite Kung Fu Academy and occurred inside the business.

At the time of publication, Lee was being housed at the Los Angeles County Twin Towers Jail Facility.
