Police: Drunk Woman With Kids In Car Plows Into Fatal Simi Valley Crash Scene

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A woman was arrested Sunday night after plowing into a fatal traffic investigation scene, police said.

The woman, whose name was not released, collided with a "Road Closed" sign and into the line of traffic cones protecting the scene of a fatal traffic accident involving a motorcycle at Royal Avenue and First Street just before midnight Sunday, Simi Valley police officials said.

Officers working the scene heard the loud crash into the sign, and the cones as they were being dragged down the roadway. The female driver was detained after the vehicle was safely stopped.

There were children in the car, and the driver allegedly told the officers she was fine to drive because she had her kids in the car with her. The woman was subsequently arrested for a .12 blood alcohol level, police said.

She was booked on suspicion of DUI, and police say they will request she also be charged with child endangerment.

The person killed in the original fatal crash has not yet been identified by police, pending notification of next of kin.
