Police Discover Body Next To Fumigated Westminster Home

WESTMINSTER (CBSLA.com) — A man was found dead in a back yard on Monroe Lane in Westminster after reportedly entering a house, which was being fumigated for termites.

Police received the call shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday from fumigators who had arrived to remove the home's fumigation tent.

The fumigators say they found the body of the dead man on the home's back porch.

The identity of the victim is not yet known, and the residents of the home, who were contacted by police, say they are not familiar with the man.

Authorities did not immediately say whether or not the person may have been a potential burglar.

Investigators did reveal that the condition of the body suggests that he died recently.

However, it was also suggested that the chemical levels inside the home may not have been intense enough to kill the man.

Police say that tented homes, including those that are being fumigated, may be vulnerable to burglars.

Additionally, people have a tendency to open windows and doors shortly after fumigation — as was the case with this Westminster home — which may mark it as a target for thieves.

More details to come.
