Police Arrest Person Of Interest In Garden Grove Multiple Assaults Case

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — Police in Garden Grove Saturday said they have arrested a person of interest in the case of a man suspected in the vicious assaults of five women Thursday.

The suspect beat and assaulted five women. The assaults included a woman who was stabbed three times after she came home to find a man burglarizing her house. The woman is expected to make a full recovery.

The assaults took place between 5:25 p.m. to 10:03 p.m. The attacks were random and without provocation, said police.

The man was taken into custody about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 6100 block of Robin Way in Buena Park.

CBS2's Brittney Hopper said video surveillance of the person of interest shopping at a convenience store led to "numerous" tips into the police. That video was shown on CBS2 at 6 p.m.

Authorities said the man, a known gang member and parolee, was arrested at his grandparents' home.

Garden Grove Police Lt. Ben Stauffer wanted to thank the public for helping identify the person of interest.

The person of interest's name was put on Twitter but the Lt. asked the media not to report the man's name or photo as to not jeopardize a line-up or their investigation.
