Police Confirm Plitt, Crew Were Filming Around Train Tracks Before Deadly Accident

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — Police confirmed Sunday that reality TV star and fitness model George Gregory "Greg" Plitt Jr. was with a small camera crew when he was struck and killed by a Metrolink train Saturday afternoon.

Burbank police Sgt. Chris Canales told City News Service that Plitt was with three or four people when he was struck by a southbound train on tracks near Front Street, just north of the Burbank Metrolink Station, at 4:05 p.m. Saturday. Plitt was pronounced dead at the scene.

Canales said detectives are still interviewing witnesses, and are still trying to determine what led up Plitt's death, but suicide has been ruled out.

Metrolink Train 268 was traveling on the Antelope Valley Line from Lancaster to Los Angeles when Plitt was struck. None of the 180 passengers on board were injured. They were taken to LA via bus, and a northbound train to Lancaster was cancelled.

Meanwhile on Sunday friends took to Twitter and other social media outlets to remember Plitt, who had been featured in Bravo's series "Work Out" and "Work Out In The Zone," as well as in numerous commercials, fitness videos and countless magazine covers.

Plitt was also an actor.

In addition to his work on "Bravo," Plitt (most recently seen on "Friends to Lovers") was perhaps also notable for appearing on HGTV's "Designed to Sell") as the often-shirtless (or tight T-shirt wearing) carpenter.

Jackie Warner, who was Plitt's boss on "Work Out," tweeted: "I am so sad to hear of Greg Plitt's passing. He was beautiful on the inside & out. My prayers go to his loved ones."

Former professional football player and current fitness model Joe Donnelly also weighed in, saying, "To simplify Greg Plitt as the top fitness model, actor and motivator would be equivalent in saying Michael Jordan was a guy that played some basketball."

Donnelly said Plitt "inspired millions worldwide with his intensity, passion, charisma and amazing ability 'light a fire' in even the coldest of souls."
