Police Checking Out Reports Of Active Shooter At LA Valley College

VALLEY VILLAGE  (CBSLA.com)  —  The Los Angeles Police Department is checkout out an unconfirmed report of an active shooter on the campus of Los Angeles Valley College in Sherman Oaks.

Several buildings have been evacuated.

Students reported hearing as many as 10 shots near the middle of the campus, authorities said.

Police are checking out buildings at and near Fulton Ave and Burbank Boulevard, according to police.

The college referred to an unspecified threat on Twitter.

LAPD and school security are doing a room-by-room search, officials said.

The school is on lock down, authorities said.

Sky9 flying over the scene captured at least 30 patrol cars at the location.

By 9 p.m., police started to scale back their presence having found no evidence of gunfire, authorities said.

By 10 p.m., the campus was given the all-clear. Police said they never did find any evidence of gunfire.
