Police Chase DUI Suspect Around San Fernando Valley

PACOIMA (CBSLA.com)  — Police are chasing a DUI suspect around the San Fernando Valley.

Authorities said several people are in the vehicle, a white Chevy Impala.

Police said they noticed the man driving erratically on the southbound 5, near the 118.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky9, said people in the car were seen tossing items out of the vehicle.

Mundel said the suspect was being aided by the fact "there is unusually light traffic right now."

The chase started around 10:35 p.m, authorities said.

Around 10:55, the suspect pulled off the freeway and took the Victory Boulevard off-ramp.

The suspect was chased in Arleta, Sylmar, North Hollywood and Studio City.

In North Hollywood, police did a PITT Maneuver near a parking lot around 11:03 p.m.

Two passengers got out of the car and led police on a brief foot chase.

Mundel said the driver remained in the car and has been taken into custody.

It was unclear if there was another passenger inside the vehicle.

The chase ended just before 11:10 p.m. with police searching the vehicle.
