13 Injured In Suspected DUI Crash In Alhambra

ALHAMBRA (CBSLA.com) — A traffic collision in the San Gabriel Valley left 13 people injured, police said.

The accident involving as many as three vehicles happened Sunday night in the 300 block of Fremont Avenue in Alhambra.

Police said the driver of a red pickup truck was traveling northbound on Fremont Avenue when he attempted to pass a vehicle.

Instead, authorities said, the vehicle struck two parked cars filled with occupants who were in the area looking at holiday decorations.

KCAL9's Brittney Hopper reports that eleven of the victims were transported to the hospital, four of which were in critical condition.

Seven of 13 of the victims were pedestrians, according to Hopper.

Police said the driver of the red pickup truck was suspected of being under the influence at the time.

Fremont Avenue from Commonwealth Avenue to Poplar Boulevard remains shut while police investigate.
