Police Arrest Indio Man For DUI After Crashing Bicycle Into Vehicle

THERMAL (CBSLA.com) — A 42-year-old man was in custody Saturday for operating a bicycle under the influence of alcohol, which caused a traffic collision yesterday evening.

According to the Coachella Police Department, officers were sent around 6:30 p.m. Friday for report of a traffic collision involving a bicyclist and on Avenue 48 near Calhoun Street.

Javier Cecena, of Indio, was riding his bicycle while intoxicated and crossed Avenue 48 into the path of a vehicle, which caused the collision, officers explained.

Cecena was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was taken into custody.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the collision, and was not cited by police.

Cecena was booked into Riverside County Jail.
