Police Arrest Garden Grove Man Accused Of Robbing 7-Eleven Store

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — A 23-year-old man was arrested Sunday for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery of a convenience store, which led to an officer-involved shooting.

According to the Garden Grove Police Department, officers were sent around 1:35 a.m. to a 7-Eleven convenience store, located in the 12700 block of Brookhurst, for report of a robbery in progress with a subject armed with a handgun.

Once on scene, officers encountered the suspect, Steven Joshua Loia, of Garden Grove, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.

Police said Loia fled on foot, but was located nearby the shooting scene.

An additional suspect has been detained and is being questioned, detectives added.

A loaded handgun was recovered at the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Loia was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, and felon in possession of a handgun.
