Police: 150 Pounds Of Marijuana Found At Pomona Home

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — About 150 pounds of marijuana and several ounces of methamphetamine were recovered from a Pomona home following a tip from a neighbor, Pomona police said Monday.

Officers were sent to the home in the 300 block of East Bonita Avenue at 6 p.m. Sunday to check out a possible report of marijuana cultivation and found "several large marijuana plants growing in the rear yard of the location," Pomona police Corporal Manny Ramos said.

"As officers were conducting their investigation, the occupant of the location began to destroy the marijuana plants," Ramos said. Officers secured the location while they awaited a search warrant.

After serving the warrant, officers recovered about 150 pounds of marijuana, several ounces of methamphetamine, several pieces of possibly stolen property and a large amount of ammunition, Ramos said.

Gary Lewis, 40, was arrested at the scene and booked at Pomona City Jail. He is being held on $30,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 30.
