Pinkberry Co-Founder Sentenced To 7 Years In Prison For 2011 Attack On Panhandler

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The co-founder of the Pinkberry frozen yogurt chain was sentenced Friday morning to seven years in state prison for beating a homeless man with a tire iron.

Young Lee, 49, was convicted last year for assault with a deadly weapon for the June 2011 attack, which happened on the Vermont Avenue offramp of the 101 Freeway near downtown.

Lee reportedly got upset after the man, who was panhandling, flashed a sexually explicit tattoo in front of his then-fiance.

Lee helped found Pinkberry in 2005 with his ex-wife, but is no longer involved with the company.
