Suspect In Custody After Pierce College Evacuated For Threat Of Man With A Gun

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A person was in custody Friday after Pierce College was evacuated  for threats  of a suicidal man with a gun.

Authorities were alerted to a threat around 11 a.m. after a man reportedly left a note that was discovered by his mother.

The note included threats that he would go to a school in the area with a gun, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The campus, located at 6201 Winnetka Avenue in Woodland Hills, was later evacuated as a precaution around 11:30 a.m. Students were also advised to not come to the school.

A suspect was taken into custody around 12:35 p.m. at a nearby bowling alley for calling in the threat. The lockdown was later lifted, but the school remained closed for the rest of the day.
