Pedestrian Struck, Killed On 605 Freeway, Northbound Traffic Backed Up For Miles

LAKEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Traffic on the Northbound lanes of the San Gabriel River (605) freeway came to a standstill Monday night after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle.

The collision occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m., just north of Del Amo Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

There was no evidence of a vehicle that had stopped or stalled nearby, CHP Officer Tony Polizzi said.

The northbound lanes of the 605 freeway were stopped shortly after the incident from the Carson/Lincoln exit, resulting in traffic buildup for miles.

Authorities continued to investigate the incident Monday night.
