Pedestrian Struck, Killed On 5 Freeway In Sun Valley

SUN VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A pedestrian was struck and killed on the southbound 5 Freeway in Sun Valley Monday night.

The California Highway Patrol received reports of a person running around on the freeway at Sheldon Street around 7:40 p.m.

The person was then hit by two vehicles. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of a red Jaguar involved in the incident pulled over and stayed to be questioned.

The southbound 5 Freeway was shut down as of 11 p.m. All traffic was being diverted to the southbound 170 Freeway.

The southbound 5 was expected to remain closed until 4 a.m. Tuesday for construction between Osborne and Branford streets.
