Pedestrian Struck, Killed Allegedly By Vehicle Being Followed By Police In Palms

PALMS (CBSLA.com) — A pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday evening allegedly by a vehicle that was being followed by police.

The crash unfolded about 8:45 p.m. at Venice Boulevard between Clarington and Hughes avenues in Palms.

According to Gordon Spencer in SKY9, a unit with the West Los Angeles LAPD division was following a suspected stolen vehicle described as a four-door, maroon-colored car.

"That suspect realized he was being followed and unfortunately hit that pedestrian, killing that pedestrian," Spencer said.

Both the suspect and the suspect vehicle remained outstanding.

LAPD units and an airship were searching for both as of Sunday evening.

"They last saw this suspect and their vehicle going northbound toward the 10 Freeway," Spencer said.

Police have closed Venice Boulevard between Clarington and Hughes avenues while they investigate. For updates on traffic conditions, listen to KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO.
