Woman Killed In Sylmar Hit-And-Run

SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) – A woman in her 40s was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while walking in Sylmar Tuesday evening.

The collision occurred at about 6:16 p.m. at the intersection of Foothill and Glenoaks boulevards. Los Angeles police said the victim was in a crosswalk when she was struck by a car travelling down Foothill Boulevard.

The pedestrian died at the scene, police confirmed. The suspect vehicle, described as a dark or black-colored four-door Saturn sedan, fled the area. Investigators at the scene said there were no skid marks, which may indicate the car did not make any attempt to stop before hitting the victim.

"At approximately that time, there was an MTA bus here at this intersection," LAPD Det. Bill Bustos told KCAL9. "So we're reaching out to see if there's potentially video evidence in that bus."

The identity of the victim was not immediately released.

LAPD detectives are investigating.
