Pedestrian Fatally Struck By DUI Suspect In South LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 45-year-old man was killed this morning in South Los Angeles by a suspected drunken driver, according to police.

The incident occurred at around 12:15 a.m. on Vernon Avenue east of Central Avenue, Officer Edgar Sanchez said.

The man was crossing Vernon Avenue — but not in a nearby crosswalk — when he was hit by a car, Sanchez said.

The 31-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
