Passenger Shot To Death By Unknown Assailant While Driving Around With Friend In Covina

COVINA (CBSLA.com) —  Covina Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal shooting that took place Saturday afternoon just before noon.

Officers from the Covina Police Department were dispatched to a shooting investigation that occurred in the area of the 800 block of W. San Bernardino Road around 11:50 a.m.

The adult male victim was shot by an unknown assailant while he was being driven by a friend.

Police said following the shooting, the victim's friend fled the location and  drove into the parking lot of Faith Community Church in West Covina.

The Police department in West Covina, as well as the West Covina Fire Department, responded to the church parking lot where the victim was pronounced dead.

Because the shooting occurred in Covina, the homicide investigation is being conducted by the Covina Police Department.

City News Service reported that the victim was allegedly meeting up with someone he agreed to sell property to that he met online.
