Pasadena Police Officer's Gun Accidentally Fires, Wounds Colleague

PASADENA (AP) — The Pasadena Police Department said Monday it has launched an internal investigation after an officer's gun accidentally fired and wounded a fellow officer in the leg.

The department says the two male officers were unloading items from a police car trunk Friday night when the gun discharged.

Lt. Mark Goodman told the Pasadena Star-News on Monday that the bullet went through the officer's leg. He was treated and released at a hospital.

Goodman said he didn't have details on how the shooting happened.

The officer whose gun fired was placed on paid leave, pending the result of the investigation.

The other officer is off duty because of the injury.

The department didn't release the names of the officers.
