Palmdale Woman Accused Of Striking 2-Year-Old Boy With Belt

PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — A 27-year-old woman from Palmdale was arrested Friday on suspicion of assaulting a 2-year-old boy, who was airlifted to a local hospital.

Deputies responded to a 12:42 p.m. call of a child allegedly being struck with a belt at a bus stop.

When deputies arrived to 10th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard, they made contact with the suspect they identified as Michelle Fletcher, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

Fletcher was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault and child cruelty.

Authorities said the 2-year-old, who is not Fletcher's child, was airlifted to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Another 8-month-old boy, believed to be Fletcher's, was taken into protective custody, the statement said.

Fletcher was booked at the Palmdale Sheriff's Station. Her bail was set at $100,000.

Anyone who may have witnessed the alleged incident was asked to call the Special Victims Bureau at (877) 710-5273.
