According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers were sent around 7:16 p.m. Friday to the area of C Street just north of 4th Street for report of an injury collision.

Once on scene, officers learned the child had wandered away from her father and ran into the street.

Victor Rodriguez, 38, of Oxnard was traveling at a slow to moderate speed North on C Street in his pickup truck when he struck the child.

Officers said the child sustained minor injuries in the collision.

Police said officers realized Rodriguez displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol.

His blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit, authorities said.

Rodriguez was arrested for driving under the influence.
