Oxnard Duo Accused In Carjacking

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — Oxnard police arrested two people Saturday as suspects in a carjacking.

The suspects -- identified as Oxnard residents Mario Montes and Anna Ramirez -- were located just before 12:30 p.m., according to Oxnard police.

The alleged carjacking took place Saturday morning, around 7 a.m., according to authorities.

Police saw the suspects and the carjacked vehicle at a Mobil station in the 400 block of S. Victoria.

Officials said Montes tried to flee but was taken into custody.

Witnesses alerted police that during a brief foot chase they saw Montes allegedly discard a firearm.

The suspects were arrested for the carjacking as well as other narcotics-related charges.

The alleged carjacking victim was only described as "an Oxnard resident."
