Overturned Truck On 5 Freeway Interchange Snarls Morning Commute

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — A big rig wreck in the East Los Angeles freeway interchange has snarled commuter traffic.

The accident before dawn Thursday has caused a major backup on southbound Interstate 5.

The wreck left the tractor-trailer on its side and an oil spill in two left lanes, but CHP Officer Monica Posada says no one was hospitalized.

A SigAlert was declared at 5:08 a.m. because cars were spinning out in the oil. Posada says once the rig is uprighted, the spill will have to be cleaned up.

The SigAlert is expected to last until at least 11 a.m.
