Overturned Big Rig Blocking Southbound 15 Freeway In Cajon Pass

HESPERIA (CBSLA.com) — An 18-wheeler overturned early Monday morning, prompting a SigAlert and snarling traffic for thousands of motorists on the southbound 15 in the Cajon Pass.

Crews were still working hours later to upright a semi that overturned at about 12:12 a.m. Monday. The big rig briefly caught fire, dangerously close to the gas tank, but firefighters were able to put it out before extracting the driver, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash initially blocked all lanes, and hours later, southbound traffic was reduced to one lane south of Hesperia at Oak Hill Road because of the crash. Crews are also mopping up a fuel spill.

The SigAlert, which was issued at 12:21 a.m., was for an unknown duration, CHP officials said.
