One Dead, One Injured In Lynwood Shooting

LYNWOOD (CBSLA) - The Sheriff's Information Bureau has reported that at least one person is dead following a shooting in Lynwood on Thursday evening.

The shooting occurred on Euclid Avenue, at an apartment complex near Cesar Chavez Park around 7PM. Authorities are calling the incident a gang-related shooting.

The victim, 52-year-old Michael Contreras of San Gabriel, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released a name or information on the victim pending the notification of kin.

First responders on the scene found Contreras in the courtyard of the complex.

Upon their initial investigations, authorities were made aware of another individual involved in the incident who had been transported to the hospital and was recovering from injuries. That man, 49, is reported to be in stable condition.

As of now, there is no suspect information or information on any vehicles related to the incident.

Sheriff's Deputies have launched an investigation into the incident, and are urging anyone with information to contact them at the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
