On-Duty Security Officer Involved In Traffic Collision In LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Officials investigated the circumstances Saturday surrounding an officer-involved traffic collision.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, a security officer was involved in an on-duty traffic collision around 2:59 a.m., in the area of Main Street and Rosecrans Avenue.

Deputies explained the officer was driving eastbound on Rosecrans Avenue in the city of West Rancho Dominguez, when the driver of a Honda Civic made a left turn in front of his vehicle and caused a traffic collision.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Honda was possibly intoxicated, officials said.

Five occupants in the vehicle were transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The security officer also sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

The collision investigation is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
