Old Prescription Drugs Accepted During Take-Back Event

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southern California residents can get rid of unwanted or outdated prescription drugs by dropping them off at designated collection sites.

The event, part of the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m Saturday.

The public can find a nearby collection site by visiting dea.gov.

The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. It is operated by police departments and other agencies.

City News Service says during previous Drug Take-Back events, Los Angeles-area residents have turned in thousands of pounds of old medicines.
