Officials Seek Public's Help In Fatal Eastvale Hit-And-Run
EASTVALE (CBSLA.com) — Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigators Thursday were seeking the public's help in identifying a motorist who killed a bicyclist in a hit-and-run collision.
Officials held a press conference at 11 a.m. at the sheriff's Jurupa Valley station to discuss the case.
Troy Davids, 21, was struck and killed on April 25 around 12:10 a.m. at the intersection of Limonite and Hamner avenues, authorities said.
Davids was cycling south on Hamner when a black four-door sedan ran a stoplight and plowed into him. The driver immediately fled the scene before deputies arrived a few minutes later, according to sheriff's officials.
Davids was transported to Kaiser Hospital of Ontario, where he was later pronounced dead.
"The Eastvale Police Department is seeking the help of a good Samaritan, who was driving a tan Chevrolet Suburban, that may have seen the suspect vehicle and driver as it fled the scene of the traffic collision," sheriff's officials said in a statement.
Deputies were also out Thursday night handing out fliers in their latest effort to find the hit-and-run suspect.
KCAL9's Crystal Cruz reports investigators were at the scene of where Davids was killed, hoping to meet some of the same drivers who may have been in the area when the incident occurred.
The victim's sister, Ashley Davids, said through tears she hoped a lead in the case would come soon in hopes that there would be justice for her brother.
"He was an ideal big brother. A true big brother for me," she said. "It's really heartbreaking. It sucks because it's just a kind of closure thing," she said.
