4 Hikers Rescued After Reported Missing In Angeles National Forest

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST (CBSLA.com) — Crews Tuesday rescued four missing hikers in the San Gabriel Mountains.

The group of three men and one woman were located and rescued around 7:30 a.m., officials said.

Will Stevenson, his father and two friends, ranging in age from 18 to 60 years ago, set out Monday morning from Switzer Falls.

"We were just trying to take a hike down the trail with my dad," Stevenson said. His father, who is an experienced hiker, hadn't been to the area since the latest wildfire and they lost their way.

"We were hiking in the dark. We had one flashlight and going by moonlight," Stevenson said.

Around midnight the group was reported missing, but luckily they had located two other hikers who had built a camp site.

"They had a fire and food, and they let us stay the night with them," Stevenson said.

Rescuers located the four individuals safely Tuesday morning, and no injuries were reported.
