Driver Of Stolen Dump Truck Taken Into Custody After 3-County Pursuit

ESCONDIDO (CBSLA.com) — The driver of a stolen dump truck led authorities on a chase Tuesday from Ontario to San Diego County before being arrested.

Authorities received information about a possible stolen vehicle traveling in Ontario around 12:35 p.m.

An officer located the vehicle, along with the suspect, in the area of Baker Avenue and Salina Street in Rancho Cucamonga.

The officer tried to hold the man at gunpoint, but the suspect got into the stolen vehicle and drove it toward the officer, authorities said.

A pursuit ensued in the cities of Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario, eventually entering the eastbound 60 Freeway.

The chase ended in San Diego, where the suspect was apprehended after trying to flee on foot.

The man, identified as 41-year-old Alberto Ochoa, was taken to a San Diego hospital, where he's being treated for injuries.

Ochoa is currently on Post-Release Community Supervision for a prior drug related charge.
