Car Theft Suspect Surrenders Following Wild High-Speed Pursuit
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) – A car theft suspect Wednesday surrendered to police following a wild high-speed pursuit through the Los Angeles, Eagle Rock and South Pasadena areas.
The driver of the stolen vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed on the 110 Freeway, as well as surface streets, during the chase, according to the LAPD's Northeast Division.
The stolen vehicle sustained a flat tire during the nearly 40-minute pursuit, which started around 10:30 a.m. at York and Figueroa in Highland Park.
Before the suspect was forced to stop at a center median on Huntington Drive in South Pasadena, he could be seen driving erratically. He nearly hit a pick-up truck, ran a red light, could be seen driving on the wrong side of the road, and went through a Metrolink barrier as a train was approaching.
The suspect exited the vehicle and surrendered to authorities around 11:10 a.m.
No other details were immediately available.
