Officials Increase Security At Claremont High Following Apparent Threat

CLAREMONT (CBSLA.com) – Officials are increasing security at Claremont High School after a threat was discovered in a school restroom.

The threat, which did not target specific students or groups, claimed that a gun would be brought to school on Thursday, according to CBS2's Joy Benedict.

The Claremont Unified School District contacted authorities, who don't believe the threat is credible. However, a letter from Principal Brett O'Connor was issued to parents that read in part:

"In an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence at CHS for the entire school day."

Roughly 2,400 students attend the school, which has also activated its reverse phone system.

No further details were released.
