Officer Shot, Suspect Injured At Long Beach Apartment Complex

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A police officer is recovering in a hospital after he was shot by a suspect Sunday night.

It happened just after 9 p.m. at Artesia Boulevard and Orizaba Avenue.

Two officers arrived on the scene after receiving a report of a disturbance at an apartment complex, according to Long Beach police.

A suspect began shooting at officers and they fired back, Officer Claudia Lopez said.

A resident there told CBS2/KCAL9's Louisa Hodge there was a hail of gunfire.

An officer was shot and his partner transported him to a hospital. He's listed in stable condition.

SKY2 was above as police searched the complex for more victims.

The suspect suffered unspecified injuries and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
