SB Lanes Of 101 Freeway Reopened After Investigation Into Police Shooting

EAST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA) — The southbound lanes of the 101 Freeway were reopened Sunday night after an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that happened about 3:45 p.m. Sunday near the Santa Monica Boulevard exit off the Hollywood (101) Freeway, LAPD said.

A perimeter was set up near Romaine Street and a search for the suspect was underway, according to LAPD.

The southbound lanes of the 101 Freeway were shut down at Melrose Avenue, backing up traffic for miles.

The suspect was taken into custody.

At some point it appears that the suspect abandoned a car on the southbound 101 Freeway and ran off before being apprehended.

Police set up a large perimeter, even searching for him by helicopter.

The suspect was shot by police but he has non-life threatening injuries.
