Officer-Involved Shooting Reported In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) —  An officer-involved shooting was reported in Long Beach Sunday evening with an officer possibly being injured.

The shooting occurred at Artesia Boulevard and Hammond Street just after 9:30, police said.

Gordon Spencer, reporting in Sky9, said the officer was taken to a nearby hospital by his partner.

The LA Sheriff's Department is assisting with crowd control.

An officer and the suspect were both possibly wounded. All police would confirm is that an officer and a suspect were both transported to a hospital.

There was no word on the condition of the officer or the suspect.

Spencer reported that officers were going through an apartment complex looking for possible victims of the suspect as a precaution.

No cause for the shooting was given.

Spencer reported that Artesia would be closed between Paramount and Obispo for several hours during an investigation.
