Police Fatally Shoot Suspect In Boyle Heights

BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — A man who drove a stolen vehicle in Boyle Heights was shot and killed by police on Sunday.

Around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, officers were following a reported stolen vehicle in the area of Sixth and Lorena streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The armed suspect, described as a man in his 20s, stopped the vehicle in the 3300 block of East Sixth Street and an officer-involved shooting subsequently occurred.

According to police, the suspect was struck by gunfire. Paramedics pronounced him dead the scene. The coroner's office has not released the suspect's identity.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
