OC Woman, 18, Arrested For Allegedly Killing Bicyclist During Hit-And-Run
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — An 18-year-old woman was in custody Monday following a fatal hit-and-run in Orange.
Sommer N. Gonzales, of Tustin, was arrested on charges of felony driving under the influence causing injuries and felony hit and run causing injuries, officials said.
Investigators say Gonzales was driving her 2001 Toyota southbound on Santiago Canyon Road around 7 a.m. Sunday when she struck 21-year-old Joseph Robinson, who was riding his bicycle in the right shoulder.
Gonzales fled the scene but was later arrested in Rancho Santa Margarita, according to California Highway Patrol Officer J. Childers.
Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.
"During this investigation, it was determined that (Gonzales) was under the influence," Childers said.
The suspect was booked into the Central Women's Jail and was being held without bail.
