OC Fugitive Wanted For Attempted Murder Arrested In Colo.

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — An attempted murder suspect wanted since July 2010 has been arrested in Colorado, police said Thursday.

Luke Austin Artinger, who was once featured on "America's Most Wanted", was apprehended this week in Grand Junction, Colo.

Artinger was wanted by Huntington Beach police for stabbing a friend in the head and neck on July 3, 2010.

He was arrested in the small Western Colorado city after police officers responded to call for a man possibly selling drugs.

"After being contacted by two uniformed officers and some conversation occurring, Artinger fled on foot but was eventually detained," Cpt. W. Stuart of the HBPD said.

Artinger gave police a fake name and was booked on drug trafficking charges.

"His true identity was later discovered and confirmed through finger prints," Cpt. Stuart said.

Artinger is awaiting prosecution on drug charges in Colorado and will ultimately be extradited to California.
