OC Dog Hid From Coyote In Storm Drain, Rescued By Firefighters

LAKE FOREST (CBSLA.com) — A dog named Sparky did what he had to do to save himself from a coyote; he hid in a storm drain.

The coyote moved on, but Sparky was stuck in the drain on Paseo Sombra.

An Orange County Fire Authority Technical Rescue team came to Sparky's aid Saturday morning just after 9 a.m.

They entered the drain and pulled Sparky, an 18 pound miniature poodle, to safety.

"Actually it was pretty complicated," said William Lackey of the Orange County Fire Authority. "Any time we go into a confined space where there may be some type of poisonous gases, we need to take a lot of precautions."

It didn't take long before Sparky was back in safe hands.
