O.C. Couple Reunites Woman With Recently Lost Photos Spanning Decades

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — An Orange County couple Friday reunited a woman with priceless memories spanning four decades after stumbling upon 150 photographs in Buena Park.

Richard and Kelly Fujikawa showed CBS2's Rachel Kim the photographs on Wednesday hoping to reunite them with their rightful owner.

They explained that they had found the pictures while geocaching, or looking for treasures, on Beach Boulevard and Los Coyotes Drive on Feb. 22.

On Friday night, the Fujikawas came face-to-face with Tonya Leyva of Buena Park, who says the pictures flew out of a box on Feb. 17 when her trunk popped open after her vehicle was rear-ended.

As Kim explains, the reunion was made possible by one of Leyva's relative, Martha. Martha, who lives in Buena Park, saw the CBS2 report online, and recognized one of her cousins, Teresa. She then called Teresa in Washington, who reached out to Kelly Fujikawa.

A day later, Leyva was reunited with her photographs.

"I'm sure I lost a lot. I want to thank you for stopping and picking them up. Look how much they picked up for me. That's awesome," said Leyva, who thought her pictures were lost forever.
