Nick Young Leaving Lakers For One-Year Deal With Golden State

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) — Another beloved Laker is leaving Los Angeles.

Free agent guard Nick Young has agreed to a one-year, $5.2 million deal with the Golden State Warriors, according to ESPN.

Young, 32, signed a four-year, $21.5 million deal with the Lakers in 2014 and provided a solid scoring threat off the bench, but found himself embroiled in several off-court controversies, including accusations of sexual assault and being caught on video holding an exploding firework.

He was also secretly recorded by former Lakers teammate D'Angelo Russell, who asked Young about being with women other than his fiancée, rapper Iggy Azalea. The video inflamed an apparent lack of trust towards Russell by his team.
Russell was traded along with center Timofey Mozgov to the Brooklyn Nets for center Brook Lopez in June.

He averaged 13.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 60 games for the Lakers.

Young will provide the Warriors with depth they like on a long bench as coach Steve Kerr regularly rotates in his reserves to spell the stars.
