NFL Owners Approve Chargers' Lease To Share Inglewood Stadium With Rams

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) — NFL team owners voted unanimously on Wednesday to approve a lease deal allowing the Chargers to share a future stadium in Inglewood with the Rams.

The deal finalizes what was a tentative agreement from January, when Rams owner Stan Kroenke won approval from the NFL to move the team to Los Angeles, ESPN reported.

NFL owners also unanimously approved a motion to waive the Chargers' debt ceiling to pay the $650 million relocation fee.

Chargers owner Dean Spanos declined to comment on whether he will seek a move to Los Angeles, saying the decision will be announced after the season.

Other owners were more forthcoming with their thoughts.

"I know as owners we all felt two teams could be supported in Los Angeles, unquestionably," Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said.

San Diego voters last month voted against a measure that would have steered hundreds of millions of tax dollars to fund a downtown San Diego stadium project.

The Chargers have until Jan. 15 to exercise their option to move to Los Angeles.
