Suspect Dies In Newport Beach Officer-Involved Shooting

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com)   —  A suspect was fatally wounded Thursday evening during an officer-involved shooting in Newport Beach, officials said.

The shooting took place around 8 p.m. in the 1400 block of Superior Avenue, reportedly at a 7-Eleven at Placentia Avenue.

"At about 8:16, we got a call, a 911 call from the convenience store here. The caller said there was a male subject here creating a disturbance. Officers responded to the scene and attempted to intervene," Officer Jennifer Manzella said.

Police said the suspect was shot "multiple times."

No officers were injured during the incident.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky9, said the suspect exchanged gunfire with police.
