New Species Of Spider Discovered That Can Swim, Prey On Fish 3 Times It's Size

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A new species of spider has been discovered and was announced to the public at the World Science Festival in Australia.

The spider, "Dolomedes Briangreeni" can not only swim, but also prey on fish three times it's own size.

It also breathes underwater, and uses tiny vibrations on the water's surface to find it's prey.

The spider was named for the founder of the World Science Festival, Brian Greene.

"These guys are fantastic because they sit on the edge of the water with six of their eight legs out waiting for the water to tremble," one doctor told the Brisbane Times.
