New Autism Laws Are Game Changers

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Areva Martin from special need network visited the KCAL9 studios Monday to talk about new Autism Laws.

The biggest change involves changes access to public health coverage.

New Regulatory changes now require behavioral health treatment as established by SB 946 to be a covered benefit under Medi-Cal for individuals under 21 years of age. This now life-altering behavioral therapies will be available to over 75,000 children in the state including for those kids who are not consumers of Regional Centers.

Parents will be able to take kids to qualified providers and receive therapy that will be covered by Medi-Cal.

Special Needs Network was 1 of 4 and the only LA organization that co-sponsored SB 946 and its parent advocates have been actively involved in advocating for its expansion.
