'Nerds' Actor Seriously Hurt In Head-On Highway Car Crash Involving Truck

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  Various media outlets are reporting that "Revenge of the Nerds" actor Robert Carradine was seriously injured in a head-on crash with a semi truck in Colorado.

TMZ described the crash as "gruesome" and "horrifying." People Magazine, meanwhile, reported "the actor barely survived."

The crash reportedly occurred last week in the middle of the afternoon. Both vehicles were going about 60 mph at the time of the crash, according to a police report cited by People.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were believed to have been factors in the crash.

The 60-year-old actor and his wife Edith were driving on a Colorado highway when he crossed the median for some unknown reason.

They were both injured. His injuries were described as "incapacitating." Police told People if the couple had not been wearing seat belts, they would not have survived.

Carradine, youngest brother of the late David ["Kung Fu"] Carradine, brother of actor Keith Carradine, son of actor John Carradine and father to actress Ever Carradine, was cited on suspicion of careless driving, according to TMZ.

Robert Carradine's other credits include "Cannonball," "Joyride," "Orca," "Mean Streets," "Go Ask Alice" and "Coming Home."

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Robert Carradine, who has said if not for acting he would have been a race car driver, will turn 61 on March 24.
