Nearly 20 People Detained In Newport Beach, Suspected Of Entering Country Illegally On Boat

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — On Tuesday, Department of Homeland Security agents detained 18 people in Newport Beach suspected of entering the country illegally on a boat.

According to police, the boat was disguised as a fishing boat in hopes that it will blend in with its surrounding in broad daylight.

The 18 people detained were transferred to the border patrol station in San Clemente. According to Border Patrol agents, the boat was overloaded so much so that it was almost sinking.
